Defining a new process
Introduction SOFOS 360 > Basic exercises > Module CMR registration > Defining a new process

Before recording processess and linking substances to them, it is recommended to first enable an axposure limit value.

You can do this by clicking the [edit icon] next to a substance in the Substance module and, under the [Properties] -> [Control parameters] tab, selecting an exposure limit value.

Please not that you must first click the edit icon next to the value before you can select the [Use] checkbox. Otherwise the checkbox cannot be activated. A new screen will open. Click [OK] to save your selection after checking [Use].

The screen will close. Do not forget to click [Save and close] to store the changes.

Now go to [CMR registration] -> [Process] module and add a process by clicking [New] -> [Process].

Enter the process name and process description. Then add a process step by clicking [New] under the [Process step] tab.

A new window will open. Enter the process step name and process step description. Next, select the correct space in which this step is carried out, in combination with the applicable location protection.

Please note that you must first click the magnifying glass icon to display the list of spaces when selecting a space (or you can enter the name manually).

Then you click [New] under the [Used substance] tab. Under the Personal protection and Documents tabs, you can optionally link additional items.

When you click [New] under the [Used substance] tab, the following screen will open, allowing you to link the substance to this process step.

Note: If the substance has been identified as a CMR substance, this checkbox will be automatically selected in the next screen. The same applies to ZZS and SZW indications.

Enter the remaining data and then click [New] at the bottom uner t'Exposure values' to enter the exposure value determined for the process.

A new window will open again. Enter the exposure value and select the appropriate limit value from the [Control parameter to be used] list. The limit values previusly marked as 'Control parameter to be used' for the substance will be visible in this list.

Close all windows using [OK] once all data has been entered. Do not forget to save everything by clicking [Save] at the top when you return to the first screen.

You will now see the exposure under the ‘Process step’ tab. If insufficient data has been entered, the system will indicate this and the risk indication cannot be calculated.

In addition, on the ‘Process’ and ‘Process step’ screens, as well as in the ‘Used substance’ overview on this screen, the system will display the ratio of the entered exposure relative to the selected limit value: the risk indication. This risk indication shows how close the entered exposure is to the limit value.

The different risk indication intervals and corresponding texts can be configured via ‘Settings – CMR registration – Risk indication’. The risk indications entered there will also be shown in the various reports.
